New Zealand is considering banning smoking for people born after 2004

They want to create a smoke-free generation.

New Zealand’s parliament is considering implementing a ban on smoking for all people born after 2004. This is part of a larger plan to go smoke-free by 2025, according to New Zealand media. Further possible restrictions involve increasing the legal smoking age and restricting when cigarettes may be sold. Some politicians are not too fond of this idea, though, saying that it will take away the liberty that people ought to have. Further to this, it might have adverse effects on those businesses that make a living from selling tobacco products. No decision has been made yet, but the debate among lawmakers continues.
