Prince Kaybee’s views on masculinity have caused a stir

His tweet has caused heavy backlash.

Local music producer, Prince Kaybee recently shared his views on masculinity by publishing a controversial tweet. Now, he is facing heavy backlash and criticism from fans.

In his tweet, he addressed the “gents” and his main goal was to let people know that, according to him, there is nothing toxic about masculinity. “You need that trait as a man to thrive, protect yourself, your loved ones and be successful. No one must ever tell you to tone it down so that you appear equal.”

Twitter users responded by saying that this kind of thinking is exactly what makes toxic masculinity so dangerous. They argue that views like this perpetuate the very thing that society is trying to change.

One user responded by saying that this kind of tweet lacks critical thinking that is desperately needed to create a more inclusive society.

Others challenged Kaybee’s view by asking him why he thinks men need “that trait” to “survive”.

After seeing that his tweet didn’t go down as he would have hoped, the “Charlotte” producer then followed his initial statement up by posting: “I’m not a rapist or an abuser, in fact I think I have OPENLY advocated for women more than any other Dj in SA.

“There’s men and women that kill, rape, abuse and molest, MEN AND WOMEN. Masculinity is a component of being a man, we need strong men to protect women,” he tweeted.

However, his rescue efforts didn’t go down well either. Fans reacted saying that toxic masculinity feeds into violence against women.
