The new level will kick in at midnight tonight.
On Saturday, the president announced that the country will be moving to level 2 of the lockdown at midnight tonight. This comes after the government has had to endure loads of criticism for the extended level 3 regulations. Under level 2, South Africans will be able to buy cigarettes and alcohol. Alcohol may also be ordered for on-site consumption. This will be the first time this is allowed since the lockdown was announced in March. The president has warned today that citizens should tread carefully under level 2, as COVID-19 is still a reality.
