He has denied allegations of abuse levelled against him by his estranged husband.
Last week, Somizi Mhlongo and his husband Mohale made headlines after Mohale made allegations against Somizi during an interview. Apparently, Somizi tried to kill him with a kitchen knife and struck him off the road with his car while he tried to flee. This all transpired after the couple had a fight about Mohale’s alleged affair.
Not long after the shocking interview, Somizi’s management team confirmed that they were aware of the allegations and that his legal team will be getting involved.
Somizi has recently released a statement on his Instagram account which details more information about his relationship with Mohale. Specifically, he reveals that they are getting divorced and that he never thought he would suffer such pain from someone he truly loves deeply.
“I have loved loudly and proudly and, as such, you all have experienced parts of our relationship by virtue of my reality show, our wedding special on TV and our social media platform. Now, you are also an audience to what has, sadly, become a breakup between two people laced by defamation,” Somizi said in the statement.
Somizi was blunt about the fact that he did not make himself guilty of any physical or emotional abuse against Mohale. He said that they did have their fights, but he never went that far as to enter the realm of abuse. He stated that the claims levelled against him are nothing short of defamation and that he wants his name cleared thereof.
“I have been accused of sabotaging his efforts to be financially independent and can confirm that I have never made a concerted effort to block his networks. In fact, I have encouraged it. I have, even through my own channels, petitioned for opportunities for him to make money through my networks and I’ve amplified some of the work he’s done through his campaigns.
“There have been publications of stories related to our sex life and a lot of what has been said is absolutely untrue. These are very personal matters and I would like to keep it as such,” Somizi explained.
The media personality said that the ongoing saga with his estranged husband is leading to difficulties in his work life. Specifically, clients are not as eager to book him while all of these controversies are flying around.
He added that he hopes the divorce will be finalised in a fair and reasonable manner.
