This comes after he asked for a postponement last week.
The Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni, is set to deliver his mid-term budget speech in Parliament this week. This speech was scheduled to take place last week, but Mboweni applied for a postponement that was granted by Parliament. Analysts expect Mboweni to signal intentions to implement new tax measures as 2020 has caused the initial cabinet budget to become almost void due to COVID-19. Most anticipate an increase in wealth taxes, meaning that those who earn significant salaries could be forced to pay more tax.
