In Pretoria, pods are being produced and sold that can be turned into parts of a home or office. The pods are made from light steel frames, which can be clad with a variety of materials to form insulated structures. The pods can easily be joined to create bespoke houses and layouts. Pods that are about 15.6-square-metres are going for R100 000 each. A fully kitted two bedroom pod house will set you back about R500 000. The local company was inspired by a movement in the UK where similar garden-style pods were becoming a popular form of housing. Apparently, they have a massive amount of interests and orders from South Africans already.
